Embossing Paste With a Twist:
Adding A Little Frosting To Your Scrapbooks!

Embossing paste is a fun, versatile medium with which to play! Traditionally, embossing paste is used with a brass stencil. However, I’ve found success and further advantages to using it with the negative shapes left after I’ve used chipboard and die cuts.

I love to add dimension, texture and depth to my projects. With the deeper cuts of chipboard sheets, I can really make embossing paste accents pop. It’s simple to get started! You will need the following: embossing paste, a negative chipboard shape, a butter knife or other spreader, and cardstock or paper.

1. Position your negative shape on the paper
where you would like the embossing paste image to appear.

2. Use your knife or spreader to gently fill in the negative space, taking care not to wiggle your template. This will feel very much like frosting a cake. The same light, steady touch is required.

3. Evenly scrape off the excess paste with your knife.
You can use the flat side for a clean, smooth surface, or the serrated side for a little extra texture.

4. Gently but firmly lift the template off of your image. You will need to lift straight up
so it doesn't come off at an angle and smudge your shape.

  5. The embossing paste will dry in about an hour.
