Curious question... At what point do you consider yourself no longer a beginner? Is it the passage of time? A certain number of projects, techniques or accomplishments? Is it reaching a level of confidence with your stuff? Tell us your thoughts... _________________ Leah

I've been scrapping since 1998 so I am definitely NOT a beginner anymore. I have techniques that I feel like a beginner using, but I am not a beginning scrapper and haven't thought of myself as one since about 6 months after I started scrapping.

How 'bout if you can teach someone else to scrap, you are no longer a beginner. And I'm not talking about all the techniques, of course, but the basics. If you can talk semi-knowledgably about the resources and the purpose and some different ways to get started, I don't think you'd qualify as a beginner any more.
So I don't think I'm a beginner knitter any more then, either! _________________ Karen, SAHM to Laurie (13), Paul (10), and Kristen (8 )

I think I was beyond the "Beginner" stage when I had accumulated enough supplies to take over the Dining room! _________________ Lori Neal

I think I've been beyond beginner since dd was about 6 mths (she's 3 1/2 now) I think that's when I started feeling really comfortable with my style. _________________ Eileen - energetic , enthusasitic

Hmm, good question. I don't know when I moved beyond "beginner" to whatever. I often think of this when answering SBing surveys and have to decide where I fit in the spectrum of the hobby. _________________ Joy

I stopped feeling like a beginner on the day an experienced scrapper suggested that I do something on a page and I said, "No, I think I'm going to do ..."
Before that, I just did whatever anybody thought I should do. |

Hmm...hard to say. I guess it was a combination of things. I started SB-ing, really, in '97 but felt like a beginner until probably '04. That's when it became something I did often as a hobby instead of just occasionally when I had a concert ticket stub to save. Coincidentally, that's also when I joined the village instead of skulking around thinking I was not good enough. I guess it partially came from knowing the products (instead of standing in front of a rack at A.C. Moore thinking "I wonder what that's for...") I also started buying magazines and getting "in the know" about new techniques and trends. Of course, that was also the year that my stash grew from enough stuff to fill an underbed box to a scrapbooking empire of monolithic proportions. I actually set up my first dedicated "scrap space" in '04 or '05. Can't remember. I guess it was really a case of just becoming more immersed and consequently more confident. _________________ --Kim

I think it might be when you "feel comfortable in your own skin" with your scrapping. Finding a nitch that works for you and going with it. _________________ Cheryl
