a) photo negatives
Very old are in boxes in labled envelopes... probably not safe but they are in the dark.
Older, in boxes with the duplicate prints
b) prints and/or duplicate prints
Prints in photo album
c) digital pictures
On the computer/CD
Each year has a folder
sub-folders for each date with a brief title of contents. Sub-folder for cropped and another sub-folder to be printed for each date.
I put the year first as 08 01-12 which would be January 12, 2008 _________________ Love you Chris... You will be missed! |

a) photo negatives - they are all in one big pile in a fire proof box. I plan on scanning them all and then organizing them for storage.
b) prints and/or duplicate prints - I don't make duplicates. I only print the photos I want to use. If I end up with photos that I end up not using in my albums as I planned, then they go in a folder for the grandparent albums that I make each Christmas. The prints I have to scrap are in folders in a rack under my table sorted by month, event.
c) digital pictures - they were on an external drive organized by Year, Month and event. I didn't back them up on disc like I should have since my CD burner hasn't been working. IF I can recover them and for future photos, I plan on putting them on a flash card and making DH burn to disc to put in the fire proof box - I also may make more than one set of backups, just in case. _________________ Andrea

What Christa said. Although my digital photos are saved on a couple of different pcs and flash drives and are sorted in folders by the month they were taken. My traditional photos are mostly just a mess, although I have scrapped most of them since I started in this hobby so the mess is much smaller than it used to be. _________________ The grass is always greener where you water and fertilize it. - Lysa TerKeurst |

I don't save negatives (I know.. but we lost all ours in a fire, and I've never saved them since)
I keep old photos in a photo box (those plastic ones you can get at Target, I think rubermaid makes them.. with the pale green cover cuz green is my favorite color and will be my scrap room color one day).. and I keep new photos in another one of those containers.
Photos i want to scrap next, are in a square basket from Peterborough basket co on my scrap counter _________________ Come Visit My Blog!

I use to save negatives and even have a few in the safe deposit box at the bank, now I save photos on the computer and CD's, I use to always get 2 copies of photos. Mine are mostly in photo boxes. _________________ "A cluttered desk is a sign of genius"

this is something that I REALLy need to get better at....right now my digital prints are in a folder on fotki or snapfish or kodak or whereever else in random folders - once my desk top is set up this needs to be organized.
my printed pictures are in various albums and/or boxes! |

a) photo negatives - are stored in random envelopes in cabinet
b) prints and/or duplicate prints - good ones are contained in picture albums (the kind where the plastic sheet sticks to the tacky cardboard page) and the others are stored in envelopes in same cabinet that houses #a
c) digital pictures - are stored on my laptop (and backed up on CDs) in monthly folders and then sub theme (for scrapping purposes) folders
One rainy day in the not too distant future, I plan to go thru all the items in #a and #b and organize! That's going to be one long rainy (or maybe even 'snowy'! day!) _________________ Jiffy xoxx |
